ESCALATOR HANDRAIL COMPANY
Transtec provides handrails for all existing escalators. We also carry out repairs and vulcanising work on handrails. Contact us for a discussion about how we can best help you... Transtec renovate motors and gearboxes for escalators.
We change bearings and gaskets and assemble and dismantle gearbox assemblies.

Transtec renovates/paints escalator steps as well as clean them using steam-pressure. We have a wide range of spare steps in our stock. This means we can fit cleaned/painted steps in your escalator at the same time as we remove your old steps. The time of standstill is minimised and you have a clean and fresh escalator the following day.
Energy saving systems are a way to reduce the energy consumption of your installations, for example, when the escalators are not loaded. This can be done in several ways depending on your installation. It can, for instance, be as simple as installing automatic starting functions, which causes the escalator to start when a passenger is approaching or with more sophisticated energy saving equipment using a frequency inverter/soft-start function.
Start functions
Contact mats or radar/photocells start the escalator when someone is approaching. The escalator then operates for a pre-programmed length of time (normally 60 seconds). This is a good solution for escalator installations where, at certain times there are only very few passengers and where you want the escalator to start and stop automatically. This function can be combined with, for example, a frequency inverter or soft-start.
Soft-start
This is a frequency inverter that together with contact-mats or other starting functions starts the escalator softly up to full speed. The escalator operates during the pre-programmed time and then reduces to low speed and waits for the next passenger. With soft-start you save 40-60% energy and the life of all moving mechanical parts is lengthened. This is a very good solution for shops that at certain times have few or no passengers.
Saving system
This is a system that can be of interest if you choose not to use contact mats and frequency inverters, but instead run the escalators in their standard design, that is, you start them in the morning and shut them down in the evening, but still want to save energy when they are not loaded. The energy saving system constantly monitors the load on the escalator and when the escalator has few or no passengers the electric motor switches to an energy saving mode. When the load increases it switches back to full effect. Depending on the load, the energy saving is estimated to 30%.
